Bounded by Duval St. on the west and I-35 on the east, Hancock possesses a rich history - many of its homes date from the teens and twenties, when Hancock was a fashionable suburb of Austin. Quaint craftsman bungalows line the streets, interspersed with apartments and condominiums (mostly occupied by university students). Residents have many amenities at their fingertips: the Hancock Shopping Center, complete with a large HEB, Sears, and 24-Hour Fitness, the Hancock Golf Course, and nearby Eastwoods Park and Wading Pool. Hancock has recently made headlines since Concordia University announced plans to move from its 34th St location - an urban, mixed-use development is slated to go up on the 22-acre campus by 2008.
